One of experimental aviation's

more prolific designers, Wilson seems

to have succeeded again. Large but

graceful, slow but purposeful, the Private

Explorer is the manatee of kit

planes. The airplane appears to be

meeting the expectations of de Chevigny,

and Private Explorer, Inc. is a

giant step closer to its goal of putting a

flying recreational vehicle in the hands

of sport aviation enthusiasts.

Dubbed the Wingebago at Sun 'n

Fun, this airplane may bring the allure

of houseboats and motor homes to aviation.

It is certainly large enough for

comfortable living on the "road," and

the specs indicate it can easily haul the

creature comfort conveniences of its

land-restricted counterparts.
