I was hoping that Larry would get the whole engine painted Yeller!

Parts really look good - wish they were closer so I could get some parts done (cheap).

Hey Larry Is that pitot tube flush with the leading edge or back just a bit?

Just about flush. If anything it's ahead of the leading edge by a fraction.

Also as noted elsewhere, I have ordered a wiring harness to be built from ACS.  Wiring all that expen$ive electronics had me worried.  I hope to have that in the next week or two.

Also something else coming.  Stay tuned for the big reveal on that one...

Hey Larry I see you didn't remove the aluminum strip that holds your wing tips on before you recovered, Was it a real Bitch to get the fabric to lay in there or not. I am debating weather to rivet mine on before covering or just wait and put them on after fabric.

I'm not trying to speak for Larry, but I did my Kitfox 4 wings the same way as he did in this regard.  I used an iron to make the fabric fit down the edge of the cap strip and glued onto the aluminum strip.  I figured that when the wing tips get fastened on, that will also hold down the fabric.  Jim Chuk

Jim and Larry,  Did you just rivet a flat aluminum strip to the capstrip - flush rivets?  I was thinking of aluminum angle riveted or screwed to rivnuts in the rib.   I have put an aluminum backer plate on the other side of the rib.

I just riveted to the inside of the cap strip with flat head rivets countersunk to be flush with outside of the capstrip.  I believe that is what the manual shows on how to do it.  Jim Chuk

No photos, sorry.

I did get (with Daves assistance) the flapperons hung on the plane today.  Then started the process of rigging them as well.

We'll see what the weather is doing tomorrow if this project continues.  They're forecasting 20 below wind chill for tomorrow.  I may just stay home.

Well, the first disappointment.   I weighed it yesterday on what I will admit are the worst scales I have ever seen and she came in pretty fat.  Kinda like her owner.

766#

From cross checking then scales, this could be up to 50# heavy. Even so, that's still more than I was expecting.  Now, I'm trying to get some better scales and try again while the weather is too cold to do anything else.

how many coats of paint did you end up with on her?

Okay. Borrowed some ASCA sanctioned stock car scales and redid this project.

Up on the scales and level, 312 right main, 323 left main and 68 on the tail.

703#

Better. Much better.  Very close to my estimation.  I was figuring 690.  I can live with this.

Yeah.  These were a dead on match to the damn scale in my bathroom.

This is also why I was questioning the other set.

Did the CG work out o.k. for you with the extra fin area?

Time for your club to invest in a set of digital race car scales.

My weight and balance came out pretty good.  Absolute worst case loading is still at 17.75", which is loaded so silly it doesn't even matter. I was planning to limit it to 18", like Dave's plane, but didn't need to go that far.

As to club scales, that's on the agenda to discuss...
