Looks great Larry - You gonna put a Red Rudder on the tail, and Red Tips on the wings?

Looks great!  You leaving underside of wings silver to reduce weight too?

That's a larger area than the bottom of fuselage.

I am so jealous - I used to have a clean, heated garage and workspace like that - and then I got married!  She banned my fuselage to a storage shed, and made a TV and computer lounge out of "Her" Garage - and I still have to pull her car into it when the forecast is for possible hail - I just leave my truck outside and hope for a check from the insurance company - But she is a good cook!

Waiting to see some Yellow, Larry!

Nice progress! Is that an oven on the left side? You going to be flying by fall?

Yes that is a fully functional range on the left.

I have this fall as a goal to be flying.  It will depend greatly on the amount of time I can spend working on the plane...

Looks Good Larry,  I see the rudder waiting for stripes in the corner.

What kind of stands are you using?   Are these the same as your wing stands?

Are the black and white stripes paint?. EDIT - just looked back at some of the earlier posts, not paint I'm guessing. What did you use? Looks nice! Jim Chuk

Jim,  I think he was talking about using vinyl tape for the stripes.

KFfan spotted the backing strips on the floor.

That "trash" :o on the floor looks like tape backing...

Yes. Vinyl tapes for the striping. 1" black with a 1/4" white over the top. Worked very well.

Stands: These are all home made items. The firewall end is supported by an engine stand and the tail by a simple stand that rotates. This allows for an infinite rotation making working on the fuselage much, MUCH, easier. The wing is on a similar setup.

I also got some assembly work done on the panel tonight. No photos. Top secret stuff...

Thanks Larry,

I had been wondering about an engine stand for that, and for wing rotator - Sometimes cheap at Harbor Freight.

What is your secret for getting the tapes on so straight?  Mine would probably look like I followed a snake!

We laid them out using masking tape pieces measured from known landmarks (border between two colors).  Then apply the vinyl stretching it tight between the marks.

The white was actually easier to put down by eye than off tape marks.

The "N" number will go in the red stripe, also made from vinyl, cut by a local sign maker.

On my white Avid Flyer with red trim that I posted pics of a while back, I used a lazer to shine a straight line down the fuselage to get things straight.  I put masking tape on the lazer line and then ran the vinyl next to the masking tape.  Jim Chuk
