I have just recently accuired an Avid IV.  I see that there is only a piece of felt or something like that forming a seal between the upper cowl and the windshield. I am quite convinced that this cannot be a propper seal and should it stand outside the water will most def leak into the cabin and onto whatever equipment and the carpet / floorboards. I have an idea to fix this but thought i'd check if anybody already came up with a fix for this.

Thanks.

Martin.

Weather stripping.  Mine is stuck to the bottom of the windshield.  I also have some rubber around the lip of the boot cowling.

Thank you akflyer. I have  an idea to make a V shaped part that will be just below the windshield bottom lip with a drain hoses each side to the bottom that will catch the water and let it out to below the fuselage.

Sounds like a lot more work than what you really need.  Some self adhesive weather stripping from the hardware store works just fine for the rest of the fleet.
