Well it was another great weekend at the lodge! Got some good flying in but the first day the card on the camera went goofy on me so I lost all those pics. Randy and I got in a good flight the second day up to the Kahiltna Glacier in the foot hills of Mt. McKinley.

few more pics..

One of the cubs following the leader in the iron dog right after they hit the river. The cub could not keep up so we went cross country and got out in front and got a couple pics as they came past us on the river.

The pic in front of the planes left to right is myself, Randy and my brother.

The pic of the cabin shows the 4' of snow on the roofs. She was deep deep when you stepped off the trail!

The new tail ski worked awesome!! Thanks Brett!

Leni and I got to add a few new places to the list of places we have landed. The first pics are along the iditarod/irondog trail; Finger Lake, the upper reaches of the Skwentna River (before I figured out we were flying up the wrong river), Puntilla Lake/Rainy Pass lodge checkpoint and back down the trail for another night at the lodge. So far my preheats from the -19 or so have been plagued with problems but we made it in spite of them. Next day was the Kahiltna Glacier and river flying. Another great couple meals at the lodge Sunday night and back home today after a little more river running; you have to watch out for those trail markers above 2' high. Put 10 hours on the bird this week so it is now at 36 hours!

I echo Leni's invite. If you can make it up with your plane that is super; if you can't, we can do some flying around in mine. Almost all of my flying I have done by myself so I have really enjoyed getting to do some flying with Leni in two planes. It is just a blast to be able to fly with another plane and is sure nice having a backup if something goes wrong.

I will try and get the video edited and uploaded. I plugged the camera into my TV and could hardly make out your plane.. I was kinda ticked off. Then I watched it on my laptop and can see it just fine. I think I may have been using the high def cord going into my not so high def TV and maybe that is why it was so dark. At any rate, I will try and get it edited and uploaded in the next day or two!

I sure enjoyed flying with you, but the low level stuff directly behind you gets kind of dicey. These planes are high drag and DIRTY! Many times I was at full stick and full rudder to keep it from rolling over when I would get in behind you, so I stayed a little high and to the right most of the time, just letting my wing tip flirt with the burbles. I noticed the same thing flying behind Bob in his Kitfox so it is not just your fat piggy avid

That sounds cool; I look forward to seeing the video. Hope my old dial up can download it.

No doubt these things are dirty; it was quite an eye opener to get behind you a few times; makes a guy pay attention to stay off to the side. I wouldn't want to deal with that down on the deck like we were flying. Hmmm... Wonder if I shoud rename it Miss Piggy? rolleyes.gif

I just looked at the pics you took again Randy. That weak bunjee on the right side looks stupid  I will replace those things pronto when I get home. I have new 1/2" mill spec cord and ends that should do the trick!
