I got together with Brett a little bit this weekend at our buddy Dave's place where he is working on his Avid-Kitfox hybrid. These are the prototype "spring" gear from Airdale. They are based on the "wide" gear that Brett already sells.

Here's some photos of the plane and the gear:

That gear is looking sweet! do you know if he is still running the 3/4" axles or is he going to 1 1/4" ?? I have had to put new axles in every year cause I bend the lil 3/4" ones every time on wheels. I think it has a lil something to do with the tires I run, but I was going to swap mine out for 1 1/4" this spring. I would sure like to go to the spring gear so I dont have to mess with the bungees anymore. That will help to seal up the cabin easier in the winter too!

Brett made his with 3/4" but made Dave's (the one in the photos) for 1-1/4", so he can go either way. Dave is running Cleveland wheels and brakes he got from another buddy's wrecked Kitfox IV.

Also, if you look closely at the photos, these gear are completely bolt on. No welding or other airframe mods needed.

If I remember right, they are 4" taller and 10" wider than the stock gear. It may only be 3" taller. It has been a few years since I bought mine.

I thought Brett said mine are 2.5" taller and 11" wider than the standard MarkIV gear.

The original "wide" gear was 4" taller and 14" wider than the stock gear. The 14" width put too much stress on the fuse and peeps bitched about the visibility over the nose so the final iteration was 10" wider 3" taller.. as I remember it

Looks good, but that step should be on the front gear leg for fueling!
