Largest folding wing plane?

Saw this at OSH.

Might be the largest folding wing aircraft I've ever seen. The rear spar pivot hinges and the latching lever mechanisms are pretty cool for 83 years ago. :)

Pretty damn cool... and done 83 yrs ago. There is alot to be said for the guys that designed planes with a pencil and slide rule instead of computers! It is hard to re-invent the wheel, but it can be improved upon!

Ok, had to revise this post from 'largest' to 'oldest' folding wing. Here are a few pics from OSH this year of folding wing aircraft. Some interesting mechanisms and you know space is at a premium on the carrier when only the tips fold..

I watched a big twin engine Navy plane fold its wings hydraulicly at Wasilla air show - impressive and big1

Don't have a clue as to what kind - My only Navy experience was being a guest on a couple of troop ships.

Spent way to much time on ebay, but I did find the video I mentioned.  Plane wasn't yellow however, it was orange.... It's at 27:30  JImChuk

Great videos Jim - Lots of Alaska memories for me - Some of my instructors at UAA worked for Wien - Saw some places I had been.  Thanks much!  EDMO
