Thanks Larry! Elevator linkage bolt issue

When Larry went flying with me the other day he noticed I had a little bit of slop in my elevator linkage back on the tail where the clevis attaches to the elevator horn. I took the bolt out and this is what it looked like. Clevis bolts have a shoulder on them but not this deep. This could have been a disaster in the making. Thanks Larry!

This is worth pulling out every year at annual to take a peek at for sure!!

Hey Joey,

I used a clevice pin in mine so it has the shank diameter the whole way. Still a good thing to keep an eye on! Thanks!

So I'm still not 100% sure if this bolt is made like that or not. Anybody know for sure? Sure seems like an awfully deep groove and it's right where the elevator horn was riding.

can you stack a couple washers on there to keep the horn out of the groove? Idont remember my bolt having that groove, but it has been a couple years since I put mine in.

I've never seen a clevis bolt like that before. BUT, that groove is very uniform and even...

Here is some clevis bolt information: Link

This is an AN "clevis"bolt

This is a shoulder bolt. Kinda looks like your example...
